Brocante Finds

I am always on the hunt to find lace...
and French Brocante markets are the perfect places
to find handmade ones.
This one is a long pillow case with small buttons at the back
and lace at the sides to pull ribbon through.
I love the initials E.R.

Crisp linen and cotton stacks of napkins with
hand embroidered initials
I just can not resist...

I found this cute baby bib and bonnet.

The icing on the cake is this pretty cover...
it is about two meters long and one meter wide.
The lady explained that this kind of embroidery was used for
the bride's new home.

A few meters of grey and yellow trim...
I have no idea on what to use it
but for 2 Euro's I couldn't leave it.

Pretty blue and white napkins can be transformed
into cushions...

Last but not least this lovely curtain.
What will I do with all my finds was asked
many times...
I won't cut them up, I will just keep them
tucked away and once in a while take them out
and admire all the hard work someone's hands has put into them.

I hope you have a lovely week.

  3. Dearest Angela,

That trim would work perfect on a lamp shade... Very regal looking.
You did find fabulous brocante items. Why is it that France is such a treasure trove? All my books with romantic filet lace patterns show photographs from antique French originals. Probably also lots done by noble women who had the time on hand to do such work, for having servants for other chores. Would be nice for us too! Only living for our hobbies...
    Hugs and love to you,
    Mariette
