Lace and time..

Today I would like to share with you the lace I keep around my home.

This one is crochet lace made with the thinnest thread,
I admire the skill that went into making it.

In France my daughter and me were admiring a market stall with over-priced hand made embroidered linen, a lady that saw us waited until we moved away from the stall and offered her mothers linen to us.
At her home she showed us a stack of small table linen and pillow cases which I was too happy to take off her hands and that for 5 Euros each.

This table cover I bought in England from a charity shop and it's my favourite one.
It has a very fine crochet border and some beautiful embroidery on it.

Did I mention that I have a tick for clocks?

This one keeps perfect time, it's a Grandmother's clock.

This clock has a very nice striking sound EVERY 15 minutes and a whole melody on the hour, so I don't wind it up any more, it drives my family crazy! It just stands there being pretty.

This one I keep running, the hourly strikes are very soft and nobody complains..

Another silent one... The vintage hat I got from my daughter for Christmas.
I want to start a collection of top hats, now I've got two, I have to start somewhere..

Auction find! I have a barometer to go with this one.

This one is a "paardjes klok" it has a horse on top of it, this is an old one, you can't imagine the sound it makes when it strikes, as if he was a heavy smoker for about a hundred years... when it does strike the whole family goes aahhh!! how sad.. so I don't wind it up anymore.

Behind glass doors..

I have a small collection of Wedgewood behind glass doors to keep it safe from my cats, they break anything I keep on the table, chew my plants, scratch my furniture and leave their hair everywhere...

I love the detail on this container I keep locked away.

These I can keep on my table safely because they're hot!

A vintage beaded purse my Mom gave me a few years ago, it has a silver clip and chain.

This is why I forgive him, he is soft and sweet and always likes to cuddle.
I have to cover those chairs anyway and so it's less dusting when my breakables are behind glass doors..

Show & Tell Friday @ My Romantic Home

Eloise

I would like to introduce you to my second grand-daughter.
Mother and baby are doing fine, she really let us wait and then came so fast, she was almost born in the car..

Many little dickie birds.....

These are the little birds at the whole-sale shop in Dubai market,
it was hard to resist, I had to buy them.

Lyon..

Last Sunday I traveled to Lyon to be with my eldest daughter for the arrival of her second baby.
Lucky me to find some left over snow, I haven't seen snow for many years so I took some pictures.

My daughter was due yesterday but see what peeks out from behind the corner.....  we are still waiting.
Her doctor said it can take up to 10 to 14 days more, I can't see how, there is no more space.

mmmm... it seems we have a little mouse that
eats the chocolates from the tree...

Here we went out to the shops and found a great spot to buy Christmas trees.

I hope you enjoy your Christmas shopping, until the next post filled with my Lyon adventures (and hopefully a new baby)!
