New Material

I started making pillows from my new found material.

I'm looking around in my room to see what I could cover

with this embroidered linen, it is heavy enough 

to use it on my chairs, they could use a makeover.

I still had a few containers that needed 

some lace, these are useful in the bathroom

to keep spare towels in.

New Wonderful Fabric

I would like to show you my new found material..

I have Stevie Wonder's song in my mind,

Isn't it beautiful, isn't it French style 

made for me...

Ignore the pink pouch, 

you must be sick of them by now...

but those pouches are my best sellers.

I want to cover all my chairs with this 

oh so pretty material, I'll start with cushions 

for now.

Apple Green Baby Pouches

I love his baby pouch it is made of cotton

material and has an insert that can be removed,

so it can be machine washed.

Most requests for baby pouches

are in soft pastel colours but not today..

Today I've added a nice fresh

splash of apple green colour on the 

front of this baby pouch.

I did keep the bow neutral, I'm not that brave...

Sweet in Cream and Pink

Yesterday I finished making this cosy Moses Basket,

I think it is the sweetest colour for a new baby girl.

More Baby Pouches

One of my favorite things to make:

Baby pouches. After stitching so many, 

they are becoming easier to make.

This green pouch can be used for a boy or a girl.

I love the olive green ribbon and I used 

some green lace which peeps out from the sides. 

This one has soft yellow ribbons and 

pale pastel colours on the lace.

Yesterday I went to my favorite shop

and found this pretty cotton material.

I bought the last of the roll, 15 yards, and I'm drooling over it.

The only problem is that the prints are too close together 

to cut them out individually.

                                                 

                                               I'll match it with some plain material and make 

                                                     cushions out of it, can't wait to start...

Vintage Music Sheets

I love collecting vintage music sheets,

they are cheap and found in thrift stores.

One day I would like to use them as wall paper,

as I see on many blogs or line some drawers with them.

I could go on and on... but this is it!

Bolster Tutorial

It is nice to be back home again. 

Holiday is over and I couldn't wait to sit behind my 

sewing machine and create something cute.

In this post I would like to show you what I 

bought at the auction last week.

This is one of two vases, they both had the 

magic name Galle but I can't find out if they are

the real deal...

I would like to introduce you to my new table cover...

every inch of it is worked on, it's made in France and I had sleepless 

nights over it.

I bid on it and bought it for 60 Euros, to my delight there were many more 

table covers, napkins and doilies in the box it came with.

December comes with a back rub??

This table cover needs some TLC...

This one is in perfect condition.

Each one came with a set of napkins.

I also won the bid on this cute doll which is in perfect condition,

made by Simon & Halbig in Germany.

Now I have to find or make a dress for her.

I made a few bolsters today and these are my favorite ones.

To make a bolster, I took the measurements 

in the length and around the pillow, 

and added one centimeter for the seams.

The edge, where the zipper is going to be fixed,

was folded  over and steam pressed to make it easy to 

stitch the zipper along.

This plate is the perfect size to use as a measure for the sides,

I added one centimeter for the seams.

I used the cover of a box to trace a perfect oval to 

decorate the top of the bolster,

then stitched it in the middle of the cover.

Zigzag  a few layers of lace on the edge of the oval.

To finish it off,  hide the edge of the lace with a layer of trim.

I first zigzagged the zipper at the back, then turned it over

and stitched the zipper in place.

I like to use a longer zipper than the material so 

I can keep it closed while stitching.

I pinned the circles to the sides making sure the stripes

were the same on each side.

Let your creativity run wild, 

these tops are so much fun to decorate.
