Pink Frilly Moses Basket

This week I'm knee deep in lace, because

I'm busy with three Moses baskets at a time...

This net canopy is so pretty and it even comes with

three layers of lace at the bottom.

Silk bows of course..

I already brought this pink Moses basket to

Cottage Chic in Mirdif City Center.

They also have my four poster baby bed.

This is the last one I have.

Pretty Favours

Last week I was busy making some 

favours, they can be used for weddings

or baby showers.

These ones I made in Tiffany blue colour.

Did I forget to tell you?.. they are tissue holders...

They do look like dresses again.

I also made them with peach details.

There is a layer of lace with peach flowers 

peeking out from under there.

Those satin flowers are hand made,

somewhere in China there is a person sitting

the whole day making these pretty flowers.

So much work is involved in creating them.

I sit back and think about these men and women

working so hard for so little pay, I wish I could buy 

these pretty flowers straight from the people that make them.

These are a different design 

of pocket tissue holders.

 They are all ready to bring to the shop 

that sells my work. 

Here I decorated a metal container that holds

my guest towels.

While shopping for small flowers 

to decorate my favours, I found some 

cream cotton lace with rose coloured details,

 some velvet ribbon and yummy roses.

and some cute floral buttons I know 

I will never use....

Marie Antoinette Dress Cushion

I'm having a lot of fun with my 

new Toile de Jouy material.

Here is a frilly bolster with an oval panel.

A few cushions together.

Then I made this big 70 x 70cm cushion, half of it

is covered with layers of lace and a tie in the middle.

When I pulled the tie it looked like a dress with a waist.

Then... pling!! a little light bulb went on....

Now this dress has a real waist...

It still is a cushion, the top and hips are stuffed

with polyester filling.

 I overstuffed it so it can stand straight without

tipping over at the waist.

The bodice stands at 52cm high and with the 

skirt 80cm.

I used cotton and silk for the dress.

Pink Sweetness...

Toile de Jouy

I love this new material!

I found it in the shop where I usually buy my silk from.

The only problem is that it had to be ordered from 

Italy and the minimum amount is ten yards...

That means.. you'll see a lot of it...

This week I worked on a lace bed-cover with 

layers of lace and silk at the border.

These cushions match the bed-cover perfectly.

mmm.. what else can I make out of it...

Tomorrow I'll start with a boudoir chair and... 

my mind will be going nuts tonight thinking of 

different things I can make with it.

Cream and Beige Cushions

Beige, cream, off white.... where have all the colours gone?

Today I finished this neutral coloured set.

I made a few cushions and a lace throw to cover the bed linen.

Here you can see the small bolster with the oval top

from the previous post.

Now I want to make something PINK!!

Small Bolster Tutorial

Today I made two small bolsters,

they are easy to make and I took a few 

pictures to show you how I made them.

I used satin cotton material and took the 

circumference from a container I thought to be 

the right size.

To get the lines straight, I ironed it in the 

width and in the length.

For this bolster I used an oval shape to put

on top of the material.

First I stitched some lace in the width on the material.

On both sides of the ironed line.

Hid the seam with some trimming and stitched

the oval into place.

Gathered lace around the oval shape.

Added a second layer.... of-course!

we can never have enough..

Then stitched the long sides together while making sure 

the lace and trimming match.

Hemmed the edges.

Ironed it.

I made the insert beforehand,

shorter than the cover.

With the insert in place, I marked where 

it would be tied.

I marked each side equally 

Then on that line I stitched two layers of lace  

Next, to hide the raw edges I stitched on this trim.

Thread a ribbon through and pulled it closed 

on both ends.

This is another bolster than the one with 

an oval top, I will show that one later..

I received this magazine and Rachel's new book

in the post today, didn't have time yet to look through them.

I had to order the magazine because they don't sell this one here.

I loved the corset on the front page, and had to have it.

I just LOVE this dress!

It has so many pretty details on it, it looks antique

but it isn't, it's brand new!

there was only one in the shop

and it fits me! get this.. it cost me 

eleven dirhams...

It made my day...
